SMARTBoard: Music and Math Rhythm Shuffle Game
This Rhythm Shuffleboard Game Combines Music and  Math on the SMARTBoard. Utilizing  the super fun way objects can now be tossed across the SMARTBoard, this shuffleboard game is perfect for a cross-curricular activity involving music and math. Note values = points. Keep score on the ScoreBoard widget or have students tally the points for further math practice. How to play Music and Math Rhythm Shuffle: Just like the Shuffleboard game on the floor, students push or shoot their puck across the SMARTBoard screen. The puck bounces off the walls and comes to rest on the Shuffleboard. My students think this is very cool!!!! Music and Math Review Game When the puck lands on a square, note values are added up and the “beat” points are scored. If the puck lands between two squares or is touching multiple boxes, all of those note values are added together. When a puck lands on or touches ALL four squares, it is considered a JACKPOT! Students must work together to add up all of the note values. SCORE! On one of the pages in this file, there is a Score Board widget included at the bottom making the review even more competitive. If younger children are learning to tally in math, this would be a great time to have teams tally up their points instead of using the Score Board widget. There is a plain Shuffleboard for just that purpose. Good old pencil and paper can be used to make the tally marks. Options Here are several different options for playing this Music and Math Rhythm Shuffle game with different age groups: Younger children can toss the puck, but will only score points if their puck lands on the pre-determined note value. For example, if my little ones are learning about the whole note, the teams would score 4 points for every whole note their puck touched. No touch = no points! Instead of ADDING the note values together, reward points only for the highest note value. The children have to decide which note last the longest and eliminate the shorter valued notes. This Music and Math Rhythm Shuffle Review Game is so much fun on many levels. The children get a kick out of the puck bouncing off the sides of the SMARTBoard and don’t even realize how much they are learning in the process.
